Here is the Swift's Space Travel Guide! Everything you need to know about getting around the solar system is here: a planet's maximum surface temperature, distance from earth and, most important, astronomical sign. The Neptunian year is equivalent to 164.8 Earth years. That's interesting!
This is one is in good shape and measures 5.25 by 4.25 inches. As you can see, it's double-sided. I love the old 50s space illustrations. This wheel shows a copyright date of 1958. For your trip be sure to take along a package of delicious Swift's dried beef. I wish I knew what Satellite Surprize is. This little guy is a double-wheel: one is for one side, the other for the other side. It says it was copyrighted in 1914, but I don't know if this actual wheel is that old. It's in like-new condition and measures five and three-fourths by thee and a quarter inches. It helps one learn semaphore and morse code. This must have been made for Boy Scout use. This is a sturdy wheel to be sure. And it actually has a price printed on it.
This beautiful wheel is one of many first aid wheels in our collection. This one is my favorite. I really like the colors and the typefaces used. And look how the designer changed the arrow color across the text. Nicely done. One of my favorite things is human body maps. The skeleton figure is nice as well. I love human body maps.
This wheel was "issued by and with the compliments of the Vacuum Oil Company" - makers of Gargoyle Spraying Oils! This is wheel has two sides and measures seven and a half inches. No doubt it was a useful wheel for some during wartime. I hate to think of anyone being exposed to blister gas, but at least a comrade could figure out how to help. After assisting the victim, he had to be sure to go to a decontamination center. I wonder if he'd be sprayed with gargoyle oil? This, uh, boat wheel is, I guess, an assistant for leaving port and arriving back safely. It measures eight and a half inches stem to stern (heh) and is of a sturdy plastic. There is nothing printed on the back. This wheel helps me to remember which is starboard and which is port. I kind of like this one because it's shaped like a boat and is not just a disc.
The hardest thing to work out on this wheel is how to quickly pronounce "Cuthburtson".
These wheels were produced in the 1930s for several languages. It seems to be a pretty handy wheel for the Spanish student to have. This one is in good shape and is, oddly, six and an eighth by seven and an eighth inches. Now, this is one of my favorite wheels. Just look at the beautiful color and design. I love this wheel! I like it so much, in fact, that it's on the wall next to by bed so I can gaze upon it whenever I like. You can hang it from the center or use the hole on one of the corners, which is what I prefer.
Kellogg's no longer makes Pep cereal, which was some sort of whole wheat cereal and one of the first breakfast cereals to be fortified. The copyright for this wheel was filed in 1940. It measures six and a half inches square. On food wheels I like to check out what they decide to list as common foods. On this one, cod liver oil is shown under meats. Mmm! My grandmother used to give my father cod liver oil. She used to give me chewing gum. Ha! |
